Yangon United holds to a goalless draw against Rakhine United

Yangon United were held to a goalless draw against Rakhine United today at Yangon United Sports Complex.

Today the Head Coach let the young player in the starting XI, and Kyi Lin was a Captain for the match. Both teams opened attacking for a goal, and in 11 minutes, Zarni Htet crossed the ball to Nyein Chan Aung tried to hit to the net, but the defenders made a block. In 29 minutes, Thein Than Win crossed the ball the penalty area, and Than Paing attempted to head. But his heading went pass to the post. Lions were awarded foul balls, but they were not good at finishing. At the break, both teams could not break the deadlock.

In 54 minutes of the second half, Kyi Lin turned the ball to the goal area, and Than Paing attempted to head, but he missed it. However, Nyein Chan Aung was ready to head near the right post of the keeper, and his heading went over the goalpost. Then Nyein Chan Aung and Than Paing were substituted by Yan Paing Soe and Emmanuel in 56 minutes. The lads saw the chances to score, but the defenders were ready to intercept and blocked. In 78 minutes, substitute Aee Soe crossed the ball to the goal area from the right side, and Emmanuel received and hit to the net. Unfortunately, the referee regarded his goal as a handball. At the final whistle, Yangon United earned a goalless draw with Rakhine United.

Yangon United Head Coach U Min Tun Lin said, “The result is not acceptable, and it means we have to work harder. And changes will be made in the next season”.

Yangon United stand at the fourth place earning 31 points from 16 matches, 9 wins, 4 draws, 3 losses. Coming September 27th, the lads will face Ayeyawady United at Padonmar stadium.
