Lions keep earning victory after beating Myawdy 3-1 today at Yangon United Sports Complex as a week-2 match of Myanmar National League 2023. Win Naing Tun doubled the score, and Okkar Naing netted a goal to seal the victory while the opponent pulled back a goal via a penalty by Aung Thu.
Some changed to the team and came out with a 4-3-3 formation, and the lads saw their first goal in 24 minutes when Zaw Win Thein delivered a ball to Win Naing Tun who turned it into a goal. Then in 35 minutes, Kaung Htet Soe tried to add another goal, however, goalkeeper Tun Nandar Oo from the Myawady side denied it. In an additional time of the first half, the opponent attempted to find a goal to equalize the score, and Sann Sat Naing saved it to lead the match 1-0 ahead.
After the restart, the lads added a second leading goal when Hlaing Bo Bo’s free-kick met striker Win Naing Tun to head to the net in 60 minutes. The lions kept pushing and striving for another leading goal, and substitute Okkar Naing’s stunning drive hit the net that the opponent’s goalkeeper could not handle to stop it. In 78 minutes, the referee awarded a penalty to Myawady when Min Kyaw Khant fouled in the penalty area and scored by Aung Thu. The chances were still knocking on our lads- Sylla and David Htan, but they could not make it a goal. At the final whistle, Yangon United beat Myawady 3-1.
Yangon United Head Coach U Kyaw Dunn said, “I’m satisfied with the result. Even though we had some mistakes, I enjoy the victory with my lads”.
Yangon United leads the table with 6 points, and coming March 6th, the lads will face Kachin United at Thuwunna stadium.
