Yangon United sealed the season with a draw against Shan United today in the last match of Myanmar National League 2023
Yangon United featured young players in the starting list with a 4-4-2 formation to face the opponent. Then in 16 minutes, Yangon could start pressing the opponent to score a goal. In 23 minutes of the match, David Htan attempted to score from the delivery of Lamin Htwe, but the opponent’s keeper denied it. Seven minutes later, Thar Yar Win Htet’s hit went over the post when Yan Naing Oo paved the way for him. In additional time of the first half, Sekyi and Bello tried to search for a goal, however, Phone Thitsar Min and the defenders were good position to handle it.
In the second half, the lad kept pushing the opponent. In 50 minutes, a free kick from Hein Zayar Linn slightly missed the goalpost. Phone Thitsar Min was in a good performance to save his net and both teams could not break the deadlock till the final whistle.
Yangon United Head Coach Gerd Zeise said, “We played not only in the first half very well, and we played well against the good and strong opponent. Good football, and we created the chances. We should have scored, but we did not score”.
Yangon United won second place after the matches played with 16 wins, 3 draws, and 3 losses earning 51 points.
