Yangon United Women secured a 2-0 victory over YREO in the Myanmar Women League 2024 (second round) in today’s match at the Yangon United Sports Complex.

The match saw both teams striving to score, with an early penalty awarded to the visitors, YREO after Yangon United’s goalkeeper Phee Bay made a crucial interception in the penalty area in the 11th minute. However, she denied Su Su Khin’s attempt to score from the spot. The breakthrough for Yangon United came when Swe Mar Aung netted the opening goal, capitalizing on a cross from Yoon Wadi Hlaing from the right wing. Later in the game, captain Win Theingi Tun doubled the lead for Yangon United after the ball rebounded from the opponent’s goalkeeper, allowing her to score from Yoon Wadi Hlaing’s follow-up shot.

Despite heavy rain in the second half making conditions difficult, neither team managed to add to the score line before the final whistle. Phee Bay, the goalkeeper for Yangon United, was particularly outstanding in today’s match, thwarting the opponent’s attacks and earning herself the title of Woman of the Match.

With this victory, Yangon United Women continue to lead the Myanmar Women League 2024 table with 18 points. Their next match is scheduled for July 22 against Shan United Women at Salin Stadium.
