Yangon United suffered a 1-2 defeat against Rakhine United today at Yangon United Sports Complex. The goal for Yangon was netted by Zaw Win Thein, and Traore and Than Toe Aung scored for Rakhine.
The squad came out with a 4-3-3 formation, and just a minute later, Sylla got a chance to open a goal, but the keeper saved it. In 13 minutes, Rakhine opened a leading goal by Traore from a free kick. Then 10 minutes later, Zaw Win Thein pulled back a goal from a free kick. Yangon kept pressing to find a goal and in 35 minutes, Yan Kyaw Soe drove to the net where the opponent’s keeper was ready to save it and the match drew 1-1 at the break.
In the second half, Yangon attempted to gear up the attack, and in 56 minutes, Zarni Htet was replaced by Okkar Naing. In 67 minutes, Win Naing Tun met a free kick from Zaw Win Thein to head to the net, but it went over the post. In 68 minutes, Win Naing Tun, Min Kyaw Khant, Yan Naing Oo, and Sylla were replaced by Yan Kyaw Htwe, Kyaw Phyo Wai, Yan Lin Aung, and Lamin Htwe. In 88 minutes, substitute Than Toe Aung kept the ball with him from a corner kick and scored a goal to seal the match. At the final whistle, Yangon United suffered a 1-2 defeat to Rakhine United.
Yangon United Head Coach U Kyaw Dunn said, “This’s my responsibility. Their play style was good but they could not turn it into a goal. Both teams kept pressing on the opponent. And I’m not satisfied with the result.”
Yangon United earned 12 points from 5 plays, 4 wins, and 1 loss, and the lads will face Mahar United on May 26th.
