Yangon United suffer defeat 1-0 to Mahar United
Yangon United suffered a defeat 1-0 to Mahar United in week 16 (postponed match) of the Myanmar National League. Mahar earned a goal via a penalty by Aung Hlaing Win in 34 minutes.
The lads came out with 4-4-2 and dominated the match. In 16 minutes, Yan Naing Oo hit the net when Yan Kyaw Htwe passed the ball, but the keeper saved it. Again in 29 minutes, defender Thurein Soe attempted to head to the net from a cross by Yan Naing Oo, but it missed the net and went over. In 32 minutes, Mahar got a penalty when Yan Naing Oo’s attempt committed the foul in the penalty area and was hit by Aung Hlaing Win. The lads kept pushing to pull back till the break, and Mahar led 1-0 ahead of Yangon.
In the second half, the lads geared up to score, and Zaw Ye Tun tried to head to the net from Zaw Win Thein’s cross. In 70 minutes, the coach made changes, and Thar Yar Win Htet and Yan Naing Oo were substituted by La Min Htwe and Okkar Naing. Two minutes later, a delivery of David Htan was dribbled by Yan Kyaw Htwe to the goal area to score, and he was intercepted by the keeper. In the remaining minutes, the lads got chances to score, and the goalkeeper was good enough to save and seal the 1-0 win over Yangon United.
Yangon United Head Coach Gerd Zeise said, “From the football element, I cannot say it was bad. We played, especially, in the second half. It was good. Attacking football, but it was too many mistakes and missed passes. That’s not the way we should play.”
Yangon United now stand in second place after 16 wins, 2 draws, and 3 losses earning 50 points, and will play the last match on 18th December at Thuwunna Stadium facing Shan United.
