Yangon United earned three points in hand of new head coach
Yangon United won 2-1 over Kachin United today at YUSC in week 15 of Myanmar National League 2023. Yan Naing Oo and David Htan sealed the win with their goals, and Sai Aung pulled back a goal for Kachin.
This was the first match of Gerd Zeise, and he made the team come out with 4-2-3-1. 15 minutes later, Yangon found a goal, and Yan Naing Oo made an excellent direct free kick to the net. However, three minutes later, the lads had to allow a goal, and Sai Aung equalized the goal. The lads kept pressing to find a goal, and David Htan hit closely to the net from an assist of Sylla in 39 minutes. Sylla got a chance before a break, and he could not turn it into a goal. The first half was led by Yangon United 2-1 over Kachin United.
After the restart, Yangon kept searching for goals, and Valencia possessed two chances in the 73 and 75 minutes of the match. But the opponent’s keeper saved it well. Then Valencia and Yan Naing Oo were replaced by Yan Kyaw Htwe and Okkar Naing. In 80 minutes, Sylla’s attempt hit the goal bar and went over. Kachin continued their attempt the additional times, and both teams could not earn any single goal till the final whistle.
Yangon United Head Coach Gerd Zeise said, “We won today, and I don’t know why because they played in training very well. Kachin was not bad, and they kept fighting and fighting. They played football, and they played against Yangon United.”
Yangon United stands in second place from 15 plays, 12 wins, 1 draw, 2 losses, and 37 points. The lads will play against DPMM FC from Brunei on 16th August at 3:30 pm at Thuwunna Stadium in the AFC Cup (Preliminary stage).
