Yangon United clinched a spot in the final with a decisive 3-1 win over Yadanarbon in the semifinal match.
Yangon United clinched a spot in the final with a decisive 3-1 win over Yadanarbon in the semifinal match of the Myanmar National League Cup 2024 this evening.
Yangon United tactically dominated the match, taking the lead with a goal from Tetteh in the 10th minute. Five minutes later, Yadanarbon was awarded a penalty due to a foul by Yaya in the penalty area, but they failed to convert it into a goal. Despite their efforts to equalize, Yadanarbon managed to score in the 20th minute through Sis Mone.
Both teams played cautiously to avoid conceding more goals. Yangon United, with a strong lineup and superior techniques, increased the pressure on their opponents. This strategy paid off in the 69th minute when Tetteh scored again, putting Yangon ahead. Despite Yadanarbon’s attempts to attack, substitute Yan Kyaw Htwe secured the 3-1 victory for Yangon United with a goal late in the match.
Yangon United Head Coach Frank Bernhadt said, “The first half was quite difficult. In the second half, we controlled the game. I think we deserve to win this game.”
The final match is scheduled for June 19th, where Yangon United will face the winner of the semifinal between Shan United and Dagon Star United.
