Lions earn goalless draw against Dagon Star United
Yangon United earned a goalless draw in today’s match against Dagon Star United at Yangon United Sports Complex. The squad came out with 4-4-2 to press on the opponent. The link between Valencia and Sylla saw the chance in 7 minutes, and Sylla attempted to drive to the net, but the opponent’s keeper saved it well. Both teams sealed their first-half scoring nail.
In the second half, the lads kept pushing more to find a goal, and they got two chances in 46 and 47 minutes. However, the opponent’s defenders managed to block it in time. In 68 minutes, Sylla and Yan Naing Oo were replaced by Yan Kyaw Htwe and Zarni Htet. Then ten minutes later, Thar Yar Win Htet featured in the place of Hlaing Bo Bo. A free kick from David Htan met the Sylla who was ready to head to the net. Unfortunately, the goalkeeper handled it well. In the remaining minutes of the match, the opponent firmly marked the lads to discourage them from passing which made the goalless draw till the final whistle.
Yangon United Head Coach Gerd Zeise said, “Four players cannot join the training the last seven weeks but only two days. We had five big chances to score. We did not score. So we cannot win.”
Yangon United stands in second place after 16 plays, 12 wins, 2 draws, and 2 losses earning 38 points, and coming October 26th, the lads will face Ayeyawady United at Thuwunna Stadium.
