Yangon United emerged victorious with a 1-0 win over Mahar United …………
Yangon United emerged victorious with a 1-0 win over Mahar United, thanks to a penalty goal by Yan Kyaw Htwe at Yangon United Sports Complex this evening.
The match saw a notable return for senior player Kyi Lin and goalkeeper Pyae Phyo Aung, both of whom were back in the starting lineup. The game remained scoreless through the first half, with both teams fighting hard for the opening goal. In the second half, Yangon United made a tactical change, substituting Kyi Lin for Ye Lin Htet to intensify their attacking efforts. Their persistence paid off in the 58th minute when Mahar United’s Moukailou committed a handball in the penalty area when Ye Lin Htet crossed the ball from the right wing, awarding Yangon a penalty. Yan Kyaw Htwe converted the opportunity into the match-winning goal.
Despite Mahar United’s efforts to equalize, goalkeeper Pyae Phyo Aung was resolute, keeping their opponents from scoring. Yangon United continued to press for more goals, creating several chances, but could not add to their tally before the final whistle.
Yangon United’s Head Coach, U Kyaw Dunn, expressed his satisfaction with the win, noting, “I am thrilled for the victory. We were held to a draw in the first half because we could not capitalize on our chances.”
With this win, Yangon United now holds 10 points from 4 matches, comprising 3 wins and 1 draw. Their next challenge is against Shan United at Taunggyi Stadium on August 4th.
