Yangon United started their Myanmar National League 2024/25 campaign with a strong 2-0 victory over Rakhine United at the Yangon United Sports Complex.
The match saw Yangon United dominate from the beginning, with their attacking prowess evident right from the whistle. The first goal came in the 34th minute when La Min Htwe set up the opportunity for David, who capitalized on a defensive lapse from Rakhine United to score. This goal gave Yangon United a well-deserved lead going into halftime.
In the second half, Yangon United continued to press forward aggressively. Changes were made with Kyi Lin and Yan Kyaw Htwe coming on for Ye Lin Htet and La Min Htwe, respectively. These substitutions added fresh energy to the team’s attack. Later, Thar Yar Win Htet replaced Yan Naing Oo, further strengthening their midfield. The decisive moment came when a combination play between Hlaing Bo Bo and Yan Kyaw Htwe created an opportunity for Zaw Win Thein, who scored the second goal, securing a comfortable lead for Yangon United. Towards the end of the match, the team made additional substitutions, with Zin Ko Htet and Hein Zayar Min replacing Min Kyaw Khant and Oakkar Naing, respectively, to see out the game and consolidate their 2-0 victory.
Yangon United head coach U Kyaw Dunn commented, “Our players played well today and I believe the contribution of young talents and gave the chances to develop.”
With this win, Yangon United earned three valuable points and will look to carry their momentum into their next match against Myawady on July 13th at YUSC.
