Lions extend their winning streak hammering GFA 3-0
Yangon United extended their winning streak hammering GFA 3-0 today at Yangon United Sports Complex in the third match of 2024 Myanmar National League Cup 2024. Wai Lin Aung doubled the score and Gideon Tetteh scored a goal for Yangon.
Yangon United deployed a 4-2-3-1 formation for the match, with Min Kyaw Khant serving as the team captain and Hein Zayar Lin making a return to the squad. The lads could dominate the match, with players like Emmanuel and Wai Lin Aung making several attempts to take the lead. Then in 18 minutes of the first half, Gideon Tetteh broke the deadlock by driving the ball from midfield and scoring, giving Yangon United a 1-0 lead going into halftime.
After the break, Zaw Win Thein was replaced by Yan Naing Oo. Wai Lin Aung doubled the lead for Yangon United in the 59 minutes with an impressive goal, driving towards the goal while attempting to cross the ball into the goal area after a throw-in by Min Kyaw Khant. In 69 minutes, the head coach made further changes, bringing on Nyi Nyi Aung and Aung Myo Khant for Oakkar Naing and Abubacar respectively. Just two minutes later, Wai Lin Aung scored his second goal of the match, securing a comfortable 3-0 lead for Yangon United.
Yangon United Head Coach Frank Bernhardt commented, “I am satisfied with the result and with some players. But I am not satisfied with the first half”.
With this win, Yangon United tops the table with 9 points from three matches. Their next fixture is against Mahar United at the University stadium on April 5th.
