Three points after beating Ayeyawady United
Yangon United earned three points beating Ayeyawady United today in week 18 of Myanmar National League 2023. Hlaing Bo Bo and Lamin Htwe scored the winning goals for Yangon, and Nyi Nyi Aung from Ayeyawady pulled a goal back via penalty.
The Head Coach made some changes, and Lamin Htwe featured in the starting XI. Yangon led the match in 14 minutes with a goal from Hlaing Bo Bo assisted by Lamin Htwe. A minute later, Lamin Htwe attempted to add a leading goal with his double attempt to the net. However, the opponent’s keeper saved it. A 19 and 33-minute attempts by Sylla and Zaw Win Thein were denied by the keeper which led the first-half break with 1-0 ahead of Ayeyawady.
In 45 minutes of the second half, the interception of defender Hein Zayar Lin allowed the opponent a penalty, and Nyi Nyi drove it to the right corner of the goalpost. The lads were not disappointed with equalizing the result and kept pushing. Then 61 minutes, the lads could lead the match again. When Zaw Win Thein hit a corner kick to the box, the opponent’s defender headed and wiped away from the goal area. Then the ball spilled out to the Lamin Htwe, and he made sure to score it from the left side. The lads got many chances to score and were weak in finishing which made the match end with 2-1 over Ayeyawady United.
After the match, Yangon United Head Coach Gerd Zeise commented, “Every match is harder than we expected. Especially today’s match. They are young and can play football. They played double well against Yangon United. So it was difficult to come into the match. We were in the match later and created the chances.”
Yangon United keep standing in second place after 17 plays, 13 wins, 2 draws, and 2 losses, and coming 1st November, they will host Yadanarbon at Yangon United Sports Complex.
