In today’s Myanmar National League match (18th round), Yangon United secured a dominant 4-1 victory over Myawady at the Thuwunna Football Stadium.
During the match, Yangon United made several changes to their lineup compared to the previous match. In the first half, Yangon United’s attacking players put pressure on Myawady’s defenders. Just seven minutes into the match, midfielder Zaw Win Thein provided a brilliant cross to winger Aee Soe, who skillfully dribbled past defenders to score the opening goal for Yangon United. Later, in the 31st minute, Myawady’s Nay Thura Aung fouled the ball with his hand inside the penalty area, resulting in a penalty kick for Yangon United. Yangon United’s striker Yan Kyaw Htwe successfully converted the penalty, giving them a 2-0 lead at halftime.
In the second half, Yangon United made several substitutions, and the fresh players made an immediate impact. The third goal came when Yan Kyaw Htwe set up young player Thar Yar Win Htet, who finished with a well-placed shot. Yangon United’s fourth goal followed soon after, as substitute forward Kaung Sithu capitalized on a loose ball in the penalty area, scoring to seal the 4-1 win. Myawady’s only goal came from a penalty in the 88th minute, with Naing Zaw Htet converting it for Myawady.
In the post-match interview, Yangon United’s head coach U Kyaw Dunn expressed gratitude to the fans, saying, “First and foremost, I would like to thank the supporters for their presence today. We made several changes in the lineup, and our players demonstrated excellent performance.”
After 18 matches, Yangon United has won 12, drawn 5, and lost 1, accumulating 41 points. They will next face Yadanarbon FC at home on February 8.
